4,852 new patients with coronavirus were registered in Russia over the past day. This was announced on August 23 by the operational headquarters to combat the spread of infection.
“Over the past day in Russia, 4,852 new cases of coronavirus have been detected in 83 regions. Of these, 23.6% had no clinical manifestations of the disease. 73 deaths were recorded. During the day, 3,162 people have fully recovered in Russia, ”the message also says.
Most of all new cases are in Moscow (611), St. Petersburg (180) and Moscow region (164).
In total, 956 749 cases were detected in the country in 85 regions. Over the entire period, 16 383 deaths were recorded, 770 639 people recovered.
Earlier, on August 22, experts from the World Health Organization (WHO) said that children aged 12 and older must wear medical masks, like adults, to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
At the same time, experts agreed that the need for children aged six to 11 to wear protective equipment varies depending on a number of factors, including the intensity of infection transmission in the place of residence, access to masks, and the child’s interaction with people at risk. Children under five do not need to wear masks.
The spread of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, which causes the disease COVID-19, began at the end of December last year. The Chinese city of Wuhan became the hotbed of infection.
