2141 new cases of COVID-19 disease detected in Ukraine per day

In Ukraine, 2,141 new cases of coronavirus have been identified. This was reported on the website of the National Security and Defense Council’s coronavirus epidemic monitoring system on August 31.

According to operational data, the largest number of detected cases over the past day was recorded in Kiev (277), Odessa (189), Kharkov (187), Chernivtsi (158), Lviv (154) regions.

Over the past day, 380 people have recovered, 30 previously sick have died.

A day earlier, on August 30, 2096 cases were reported. The peak of the disease this month in Ukraine fell on August 28 – 2481 new cases were detected per day.

The number of infected since the beginning of the pandemic was 121,215 people as of August 31, 57,115 recovered, 2,557 people have died since the beginning of the pandemic.

Earlier on August 31, it became known about the resumption of production of domestic vaccines in Ukraine. The country’s Minister of Health Maxim Stepanov said that the country has a scientific potential for this, despite the fact that this production was destroyed in the 1990s in Ukraine.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that the country does not have the technical capabilities to research and develop any vaccines, including against coronavirus, but preparations are underway for mass production.

On August 11, a vaccine based on an adenovirus vector was registered with the Russian Ministry of Health. It became the first registered vaccine against the new coronavirus infection SARS-CoV-2 in the world.
