According to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Tomas Petřicek, the sanctions of the European Union against the leadership of the Republic of Belarus may come into force no later than September 21. He recalled that earlier the list included 20 officials and politicians, but this list can be expanded.

“I believe that European sanctions will come into force no later than September 21 … Earlier, 20 persons responsible for manipulation during the election campaign and the use of force against peaceful demonstrations were included in the sanctions list. We again see cruel treatment of citizens, so this list can be expanded in the coming days, ”TASS quoted him as saying.

The Czech minister specified that the EU’s goal is to push the Belarusian authorities to dialogue with the opposition, as well as to fulfill the obligations assumed by the OSCE membership.
