If it comes to power, the Belarusian opposition is not going to abandon the existing international agreements with partner countries, including Russia. This was announced on Tuesday, August 18, by a member of the coordination council of the opposition of the Republic, Maria Kolesnikova.

“We are constructively disposed towards all external partners of the Republic of Belarus. We believe that all existing agreements must be respected, “Interfax quoted her as saying.

Kolesnikova noted that the council does not intend to abandon a constructive dialogue with all partner countries, “certainly including the Russian Federation.”

She also added that the council is not discussing a possible withdrawal of the Republic from the union structures with Russia.

“This issue is not on our agenda at all. We evaluate statements [действующего президента Белоруссии Александра] Lukashenka as an attempt at manipulation and deception, ”the opposition representative stressed.

On the same day, Lukashenko accused the opposition of intending to introduce a “creeping” ban on the Russian language and border control on the border with Russia. He called the entire political program of his opponents completely untenable.

Earlier, the Belarus 1 TV channel reported on an opposition program presented during the presidential campaign called “Reanimation package of reforms for Belarus”. As reported in the channel’s report, the project, approved by opposition candidate Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, proposes to build a border with Russia, ban pro-Russian organizations, turn off Russian television channels, withdraw from the CSTO and apply for NATO membership. In addition, the opposition plans to introduce education in the Belarusian language.

In recent days, the site with the specified reform program has been unavailable, but its content has been saved in the Google cache.

Protests continue in Belarus after the August 9 presidential elections. People took to the streets of the country who did not agree with the voting results. According to the Central Election Commission, Lukashenka won over 80% of the vote.

Demonstrations are accompanied by detentions and the use of force by law enforcement agencies. Lukashenka, commenting on clashes between police and protesters, blamed the opposition for the brutality during the rallies.
