The World Health Organization (WHO) has reported more new confirmed coronary infections than ever before in a single day. WHO announced on Friday that 350,766 people have received notifications worldwide. Michael Ryan, WHO Emergency Response Coordinator, acknowledged that despite the rise in infections, there were no “new responses” to the pandemic.

Ryan said that while WHO supports governments’ decision to have states avoid harsh quarantine measures that are destroying their economies, governments still need to protect those most at risk. States should not only focus on restrictive measures, but also strengthen their monitoring, testing and contact tracing systems and maximize the protection of the public.
