The project for the improvement of the Sursky square was presented by the chief architect of the VYAZ Center Dmitry Selivokhin. A cross-shaped pedestrian network will be laid directly from the sign. The architects want to enlarge the green area by placing an open exhibition and an eco-trail in the park. All trees that are already in the park will be counted and remain intact.
They plan to leave the playground in its place, only it will be isolated from the main zone. Equipment will also be added to it.
Let us add that the design of the concept for the improvement of the Sursky Square is part of the development of a unified system for the formation of a barrier-free park ring in Volgograd. It has already included the upper terrace of the Central Embankment, the Aleksandrovsky Garden, the park in the floodplain of the Tsaritsa River, the Komsomolsky Park and the Gorsad. The importance of creating new public spaces in the hero-city was emphasized by Governor Andrei Bocharov during the inspection of Volgograd parks in January 2021.
