Verkhovna Rada deputy called Ukraine “covid ghetto”

Deputy Olga Stefanishina at a plenary session of the Verkhovna Rada said that Ukraine is turning into a “covid ghetto.”

According to the deputy, in the country, one after another, cities are being quarantined, while in other countries restrictions are gradually being lifted due to large-scale vaccination of the population.

“The governments of those countries and the ministries of health took care of their people. And you turned Ukraine into a covid ghetto, ”Politnavigator quoted her as saying on Friday, March 19.

Stefanishina stressed that Ukraine is in the penultimate place in Europe in terms of vaccination of the population. According to her, on March 17 alone, 262 people died in the country due to coronavirus infection.

Earlier on Friday, it was reported that in Ukraine over the past day, a record 15 850 new cases of coronavirus infection were recorded since the beginning of the year.

Most of all new cases of infection were detected in Kiev, as well as in Lvov, Kiev and Kharkov regions.

On March 18, the mayor of Kiev, Vitali Klitschko, announced the decision of the capital’s authorities to introduce strict restrictions in the city for a period of three weeks – from March 20 to April 9. In particular, cinemas, theaters, museums and shopping centers will be closed.
