The Sakhalin Region was the first in the Far Eastern region to start vaccinating the population against a new coronavirus infection. The received batch of free domestic vaccine “Sputnik V” has 300 doses, which were immediately distributed to medical institutions.
First, medical workers will be vaccinated who directly work with COVID-19 patients and are at risk of becoming infected on a daily basis. Next in line to get vaccinated are teachers and social workers, and then all the islanders who want to be vaccinated. As new batches of vaccine arrive, more citizens will be vaccinated, which will launch a mechanism to protect the population from coronavirus.
In July of this year, the Governor of the Sakhalin Region was vaccinated with the Sputnik V vaccine (two vaccinations), as a result, a month later, antibodies appeared in the blood and immunity to coronavirus was developed. Vaccination of the population will be free and publicly available. All vaccinated will be entered into a single federal database.
