Democrat Joe Biden, who has announced his victory in the US presidential elections, will be very tough on the Russian leadership, as well as on other leaders of countries with whom he disagrees. This was stated by Distinguished Professor of Public Administration, founder of the Center for Congressional Research and President at the American University James Thurber.
“Biden will be very tough on Putin, as well as on other leaders with whom he disagrees. He will fully support NATO, involve international organizations to achieve American goals, ”the professor said.
According to Turber, the democrat will fully support Ukraine, and relations with Moscow will not be any easier than they were under Donald Trump.
The expert noted that Americans are very divided, so he will work with a very polarized Senate and House of Representatives of the Congress. The professor believes that the new American leader will have a difficult time achieving goals in terms of foreign, defense and even trade policy.
At the same time, the former vice president knows world leaders well. He will be able to restore the dialogue with the WHO, which was criticized by Donald Trump. Also, Washington will be able to join the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade agreement.
According to the professor, Trump “broke the rules when he first started the election race.” He, being a “lame duck” (outgoing president), may fire someone, since the current US president will have time to pass executive orders. The expert is sure that within a couple of weeks there will be no Trump supporters among the senators and leaders of the Republicans.
