A copy of Protocols of the Elders of Zion, an anti-Semitic book from the beginning of the 20e century that accuses Jews of plotting to dominate the world, was discovered by a parliamentary aide at a security gate in one of the Congress buildings, reported the Washington post.
“When this matter was brought to my attention, I immediately ordered that the police officer be suspended” until the end of an internal investigation, assured the Chief of Police of the Capitol, Yogananda Pittman, according to the statement.
“We take allegations of inappropriate behavior seriously,” continued Mr.me Pittman, whose workforce has been the subject of sustained attention since the Jan.6 assault on Capitol Hill by thousands of supporters of former President Donald Trump.
This police service supposed to protect parliamentarians has been widely criticized for its lack of preparation after being overwhelmed by rioters, hundreds of whom brutally entered the precincts of Congress. The violence left 5 dead, including a Capitol police officer.
Several of its members have also been suspended, and a dozen are under investigation, after the publication of images showing them opening doors for attackers or posing for selfies with them.
