The United Nations has allocated $ 15 million in special funds to help Lebanon clean up the aftermath of the explosion in the Lebanese capital, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs said.

OCHA head Mark Loucock allocated $ 6 million from the emergency response fund to help Lebanon, and earlier $ 9 million was allocated from the humanitarian aid fund to Lebanon. In total, the total amount of UN crisis assistance amounted to $ 15 million.

“The UN and partners are actively working to assess the situation and mobilize urgent assistance, including to provide temporary shelter for more than 300,000 homeless people, including 80,000 children,” the OCHA added.

In addition, three World Food Organization cargo planes will arrive in Beirut in the coming days.
