If Ukraine does not overcome the constitutional crisis, it may lose a visa-free regime with the European Union and the support of international partners, said Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba.
“If a systemic solution to the problem created by the Constitutional Court is not found, then believe me, not only the visa-free regime will suffer. We will lose the support of the countries with which we have the greatest trade, which most of all support the Ukrainian reforms, ”Kuleba said on October 30 on the air of the“ Freedom of Speech by Savik Shuster ”program.
According to him, the Ukrainian authorities began to resolve the issue and were able to reassure partners, convincing them not to take action against Kiev yet.
On October 27, the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, at the request of the Rada deputies, recognized a number of laws that were adopted at the request of the EU as collateral for providing financial assistance to Kiev. Among them, criminal liability for false information when officials filed declarations on property, as well as a number of powers of the National Anti-Corruption Committee of Ukraine, were recognized as unconstitutional.
After that, Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy called an emergency meeting of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC), and the State Investigation Bureau summoned the chairman of the Constitutional Court, Oleksandr Tupitsky, in the case of committing crimes as part of a criminal organization.
In addition, the protesters at the building of the Constitutional Court in Kiev demanded to bring to justice the judges who recognized the illegal part of the provisions of the law on the prevention of corruption.
