In Ukraine, a local task force has developed a so-called “transitional justice concept” for Crimea and the uncontrolled territories of Donbass.
The document, according to the Ukrainian side, should become the main instrument for returning the regions to the legal space of Ukraine after the renewal of Kiev’s sovereignty over them. Ukrainian officials believe such a return is inevitable.
Nevertheless, according to Kommersant, the prospects for the return of the self-proclaimed people’s republics of Donbass in the near future to Kiev’s control are vague.
The Crimean issue, as it was emphasized in Moscow, and on the peninsula itself, is closed once and for all.
Meanwhile, work on the document began in August 2019. According to the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, the concept should clarify what life will be like for people after regaining control over Crimea and part of the territory of Donbass.
