The Russian Geographical Society is holding the traditional competition “Most Beautiful Country-2021”. One of the new nominations of the competition this year was “Live Archive”. The nomination is dedicated to the work of Sergei Prokudin-Gorsky, a master of photography, who was one of the first in the world to take color photographs.
One of his most famous photographs is a full-color portrait of Leo Tolstoy in a wicker chair.
The organizers of the competition invite participants to repeat the photographs of Prokudin-Gorsky, taken, among other things, in the Tula region.
The competition website contains pictures taken by a photographer 100 years ago in our region. Sergei Mikhailovich captured the tributaries of the Krasivaya Mecha, the lake in Volovo, Yasnaya Polyana.
In case of winning the nomination, the author of the photo will receive 240 thousand rubles.
The competition also includes the categories “Landscape”, “Wild Animals”, “Filmed with a Smartphone”, “Russia from a Bird’s Eye View” and others.
Applications are accepted until April 5. You can apply for participation up to 25 works.
