Tula rescues memories of a woman injured in a hurricane in Kansas

Elena Blinova, a needlewoman from Tula, embroiders portraits and drawings with satin stitch, which she decorates in the form of a brooch. Often the heroes of her works are famous personalities: Marilyn Monroe, Frida Kahlo, Leo Tolstoy.

It takes at least 10 hours to make such a piece of jewelry, but this is not the only difficulty in the work. Once the girl was almost prevented by a hurricane that took place in Kansas.

The jewelry made by the girl gained popularity not only in Russia, but also abroad. An artist from the USA found Elena in Instagram and asked to make a brooch with a portrait of her daughter in the form of a Sirin bird.

“However, there were some difficulties. She sent me a very blurry photo that would be difficult to work on. I asked if there was a better quality image. Then she explained to me that all of her photographs were destroyed by a hurricane, which turned out to be a frequent occurrence in Kansas, “ – Elena Blinova told MK in Tula.

Despite this, the brooch was still a success, and Elena still keeps in touch with a foreign artist.

“After that we collaborated a lot with this woman and share ideas to this day,” – says the girl.
