The current US president may miss the annual New Years party at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida and will return to the capital earlier than expected. This was announced on Wednesday, December 30, by CNN, citing informed sources.

The TV channel notes that the guests have already announced the presence of the head of the White House at the party, and the decision to skip this event is not typical for Trump.

The decision to return to Washington early may be due to the fact that Trump is now busy exclusively with the results of the presidential election, namely, the meeting on the results of the electoral vote at a congressional meeting on January 6, where they must be formally approved.

The second reason the TV channel called the president’s concern that Iran might “take revenge” in the coming days for the US operation to eliminate Iranian General Qasem Soleimani on January 3. Then Trump gave the order to carry out this operation while at the Mar-a-Lago residence.

Trump announced this week to appear in Washington on January 6, when Congress will formally approve the electoral vote for the presidential election.

Earlier it was reported that Republican Senator Josh Hawley intends at this meeting to express an objection to the results of the electoral vote, which will briefly postpone the recognition of Joe Biden as president.

On December 28, the American leader once again called on Republican senators to fight to challenge the results of the presidential election.
