Trump is nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. He was nominated by a far-right Norwegian MP for his role in the recent peace accords between Israel, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain. Trump may not be able to find Bahrain on a world map.
In 2018, his supporters wanted him to get the Nobel for his overtures to North Korea which came to nothing. Except for allowing him to strut around Kim Jong-un’s arm in Singapore for photo opportunities.
Hitler, Nobel Peace Prize!
Unlike other Nobel prizes, the peace laureate is chosen by a committee of the Norwegian parliament. Created by Alfred Nobel, the inventor of dynamite, it aims to reward remarkable achievements in favor of peace. Among its most famous laureates are Mother Teresa, Nelson Mandela and Martin Luther King Jr. Gandhi’s name has been proposed five times and never accepted.
The history of the Nobel Peace Prize has been marked by mind-boggling nominations that have undermined its credibility.
Adolf Hitler was selected for the Nobel Peace Prize in 1939 by Scandinavian Social Democratic MP Erik Brandt, praising his “ardent love of peace”. It was a hoax to denounce British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain, who had just signed agreements with the Führer allowing him to annex part of Czechoslovakia.
The proposal was withdrawn, but Hitler is still listed as a candidate for the Nobel Peace Prize. The monstrous Joseph Stalin was selected twice, in 1945 and in 1948. Italian dictator Benito Mussolini was also nominated.
Emirates and Bahrain embrace Israel: what’s new?
This “normalization” of relations between Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates and Israel does not deserve a Nobel: like Saudi Arabia, they already have a long secret relationship with the Jewish state. It’s pro-Trump publicity stunt.
These three Arab countries, like Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, so ardently hope for Trump’s re-election that they even go so far as to deny the Palestinian cause. And it had to be done quickly so that the man in the long red tie could get his suspenders off in the Oval Office in front of the cameras.
In 2009, Barack Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize when he had just been elected and had not yet done anything to deserve it. Subsequently, he failed to bring peace to Afghanistan or Iraq, and failed to reconcile Israelis and Palestinians during his eight years in power.
It was the 2015 agreement to control Iran’s nuclear program, endorsed by the European Union, China, Russia, the United Kingdom and Germany, that should have earned it the Nobel Peace Prize. In collusion with Netanyahu, Trump withdrew the United States from the deal, which he vehemently denounced upon his election.
Trump deserves the award for the master of political chaos and discord.
