The American leader noted that mail-order voting is a “cheat” and “the biggest threat” to US democracy
“Almost all recent elections that have used this system, even though they were fewer and with much fewer ballots to count, have ended in disaster. Large numbers of missing ballots and fraud, ”Trump said.
Trump has repeatedly criticized in recent months the mail-order voting method, which Democrats are proposing to be widely used in the upcoming US elections due to the coronavirus pandemic. In his opinion, this method does not allow for accurate and prompt summing up of the voting results.
He explained that he means, first of all, the threat of large-scale fraud and falsification of ballots, voting of “dead souls”, as well as persons who do not have the right to participate in elections. Trump also said that mail-order voting makes the upcoming elections vulnerable to foreign interference.
Earlier, on August 22, the House of Representatives of the US Congress approved the so-called law on the work of the mail, which provides for additional funding of the country’s postal service in the amount of $ 25 billion.
The bill is tied to voting in November’s elections amid a pandemic, and would ban the postal service from changing its operations and service levels – including to prevent US leader Donald Trump from obstructing the process.
