Former IBF and IBO boxing world champion Eduard Troyanovsky commented on the replacement of Russian opponent Murat Gassiev. He expressed his opinion in an interview with REN TV.
According to the athlete, the replacement of partners is a negative moment, because a boxer in training prepares for a specific opponent.
Initially, Gassiev was supposed to fight the American Kevin Johnson, but he refused to fight. Instead, the Albanian Sefer Seferi was supposed to become the opponent of the Russian, but in the end he will enter the ring with Sefer Nuri’s brother, who calls himself “Albanian Tyson.”
“In general, changing the opponent is not a very good story for a fighter, because there is a certain period of time for preparation. A person prepares for this particular fighter, makes certain developments, selects sparring partners. And here in such a short time the enemy changes. We are simply forced to quickly change the tactics of preparation, ”Troyanovsky said.
He added that he knows practically nothing about Gassiev’s new rival, however, he emphasized that no opponent should be underestimated. and take preparation for battle seriously…
Troyanovsky spoke about the strengths of Gassiev, which, in his opinion, should help him win.
“He has a very good, hard hit. It’s like an advantage. He has a very long track record. He had very successful fights in the super series. What will help him win this battle? The same thing that gave him to win earlier – perseverance, good boxing technique and a hard hit. I think Murat will definitely win, ”he said.
The fight on October 31 in Sochi will be his debut in the heavyweight division for Gassiev.
Promoter Vladimir Khryunov previously commented on the change of Gassiev’s opponent by saying that the younger Seferi was “frightened” of the Russian, since he never had fights with boxers like Murat Gassiev.
