The headquarters of the candidate for the presidency of Belarus Svetlana Tikhanovskaya does not recognize the official data of the country’s Central Election Commission, as it claims that data from polling stations in all regions of the republic show her results in 70-80%. Tikhanovskaya’s confidant Olga Kovalkova told RIA Novosti on Monday, August 10th.
The presidential elections in Belarus took place on August 9. According to preliminary data from the CEC, the current leader of the state, Alexander Lukashenko, is gaining 80.23% of the vote, and Tikhanovskaya – 9.9%. The third place was taken by the “candidate against all”.
“We have the information that came yesterday from those precinct commissions, where the votes were really counted, nothing was falsified. Svetlana won: from 70, and in some of them she scored up to 90%. With this information, do you think we can normally perceive what the CEC is saying today? Of course not, ”said Kovalkova.
To the argument that the headquarters has data only on a part of the sites, which do not reflect the whole picture, Kovalkova objected that “this is the whole picture, because the sites are located throughout Belarus.” She noted that Tikhanovskaya could not support 90% of voters in one precinct, and in the second 3, or 6, or 8%.
According to her, Tikhanovskaya will announce her further actions at a briefing at 11:00 (coinciding with Moscow time).
In turn, the head of the CIS observer mission for the elections in Belarus, Sergei Lebedev, said that individual complaints from observers and violations at the elections were not systemic and did not affect the voting results. According to him, members of election commissions promptly eliminated the comments.
At the time of closing of polling stations in Belarus at 20:00 on Sunday, the turnout was 84.05%.
