UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima by the United States, called on the countries of the world to renounce nuclear weapons. He stated this in his video message.
He noted that from the very first day of its existence, the UN considered it necessary to destroy nuclear weapons. However, this goal has not yet been achieved, says Guterres. According to him, the nuclear weapons control treaties concluded in the past are now on the verge of elimination.
Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov expressed the opinion that the risks of nuclear confrontation have recently increased, and the security situation is degrading.
