US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken will meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during his visit to Kiev on May 5-6 and reaffirm support for Kiev. This is stated in the message of the representative of the State Department Ned Price, distributed on April 30.

“The Secretary of State will travel to Kiev, Ukraine, May 5-6, where he will meet with the President [Владимиром] Zelensky, Minister of Foreign Affairs [Дмитрием] Kuleba, other officials and representatives of Ukrainian civil society to reaffirm the United States’ unwavering support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity in the face of Russia’s ongoing aggression, ”the statement reads.

It is noted that Blinken will also “encourage further progress” of institutional reforms in Ukraine, in particular in the fight against corruption, to ensure “economic prosperity and the Euro-Atlantic future” of the country.

On April 22, Ned Price announced that the United States will continue to provide assistance to Ukraine “to defend against Russia,” including through the supply of “defensive flying weapons.” He did not elaborate on the details of the deliveries.

On April 3, Ukraine’s Ambassador to the United States, Oksana Markarova, said that Ukrainian diplomats and the president’s office are working to organize a meeting between Zelensky and US President Joe Biden.

Since 2014, Kiev has been conducting a military operation against the residents of Donbass, who refused to recognize the results of the coup and the new government in Ukraine. In this situation, Ukraine blames Russia, but Moscow has repeatedly noted that it is not a party to the internal Ukrainian conflict.
