Auto expert Igor Morzharetto on August 18 warned Russians about the rise in car prices and the fall in sales by the end of the year.
On the air of NSN, he said that he noted that last month due to the pandemic, there was an atypical increase in sales compared to 2019, but at the moment they are more or less calm. At the same time, the expert is sure that by the end of the year, sales will fall by at least 20%.
“In addition, we understand that prices will definitely grow, and therefore now is a good time to buy a car,” he said.
Morgaretto also denied information about a shortage of cars at dealerships, stressing that only the buyer who wants to “wants to buy immediately and leave” may face difficulties.
Earlier that day, the analytical agency Avtostat reported that imports of passenger cars to Russia in January-June 2020 fell by 34.5%, to 94.1 thousand cars. At the same time, on August 10, it became known that the weighted average prices for cars in Russia over the past five years increased by 40%.
