The Russian national ice hockey team defeated the US team in the first match of the junior world championship.
The meeting took place on April 27 and ended with the victory of the Russians in overtime with a score of 7: 6 (1: 3, 4: 3, 1: 0, 1: 0). At the same time, the Russian team bounced back from a score of 1: 5, says the Sport-Express newspaper.
As part of the winners, Ivan Miroshnichenko scored a double, Danila Yurov, Dmitry Buchelnikov, Vsevolod Gaidamak, Matvey Michkov scored one goal each. The decisive goal was scored by Nikita Chibrikov.
Ryan Chesley, Sean Behrens, Ethan Stracky, Sasha Pastukhov and Dylan Duke scored twice in the match against the Americans.
On April 28, the Russian national team will play with the Finnish team, and the Americans will fight the German national team on the same day. The Czech Republic national team also plays in Group B.
The Junior Ice Hockey World Championship will run from April 27 to May 6. Last year, due to the pandemic, the tournament was canceled.
