The Prosecutor General’s Office of Russia recorded an increase in the number of detected attempts to bribe in the current year. This is evidenced by the materials for the board on the results of work for the first half of the year, published on July 30.

“In the first half of the year, 18.9 thousand crimes of corruption were detected, which is comparable to the same indicators of the last year (19.4 thousand), while the number of persons who committed them increased. The number of bribe-giving crimes increased (by 11.2%), ”the supervisory authority writes.

The Prosecutor General’s Office stressed that the activities of law enforcement agencies are more aimed at identifying bribe-takers, rather than citizens who are trying to bribe officials.

“Ratio [выявленных фактов] receiving and giving bribes remained at the same level (56% to 44%, respectively) “, – stated in the materials.

In July it became known that in Moscow the number of officials caught in bribes had decreased by a third in a year.

In June, the Prosecutor General’s Office published a report on corruption in Russian regions. The top ten regions with the highest level of such violations included Mordovia, Chuvashia, Kamchatka, Arkhangelsk, Bryansk, Magadan, Novgorod, Orenburg, Saratov and Tyumen regions.

The lowest level of corruption, according to the Prosecutor General’s Office, is observed in Ingushetia, Khakassia, Altai Territory, Vologda, Moscow, Murmansk, Penza regions, St. Petersburg, Sevastopol and Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug.
