More than 70 cultural venues in Moscow took part in the cultural action “Library Night”, which took place from 24 to 25 April. The events of the action gained more than 200 thousand views, said the deputy mayor of the capital Natalya Sergunina on April 29.

She clarified that the program was dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the first ever manned space flight and the Year of Science and Technology in Russia.

“For the Biblionochi spectators, meetings with writers, lectures on literature and space, master classes, quizzes, and theatrical readings were prepared. Together, the events of the action scored 215 thousand views – twice more than a year ago, ”said the vice-mayor.

Sergunina sees the reason for this trend in the convenience of the online format. The Deputy Mayor pointed out that it is easy to join the selected event online from anywhere and from any device with Internet access. In addition, the use of technology allows you to watch several events overnight, switching between them.

In the capital, the action was held on five main online platforms, each with its own thematic program. Thus, the channels “Reading and Not Alone” and “Dialogues about the Past and the Future” broadcasted the public currents of contemporary Russian writers, and the “Neighborhood Shelf” platform prepared video podcasts for viewers. The Library Twilight platform was open for families with children, and the Prosto Kosmos channel was launched for those interested in science and space.

Among the speakers were writers Lev Danilkin, Guzel Yakhina, Oleg Roy, Lyudmila Sarycheva, Marina Stepnova, translator and editor Mikhail Vizel, historian and journalist Vadim Erlikhman, actress Lyubov Tolkalina, pilot-cosmonaut Hero of the Soviet Union Alexander Laveykin, pilot-cosmonaut Hero of Russia Alexander Lazutkin and others.

This year the “Library Night” was held for the 10th time and the second time – in a remote format. The event was first held online in 2020. Then 98 thousand people took part in the action.

In 2018, at the initiative of Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, the “My District” program was launched in the capital, the goal of which is to create comfortable living conditions in all urban areas. As part of the program, a modern urban environment is being formed, transport accessibility is improving, the quality of education and medical care is improving, additional opportunities for sports are being created, existing cultural sites are being updated and new ones are being opened. The set of specific transformations depends on the wishes of local residents.
