The Russian biotechnical company Biopalitra has begun production of the Multiscrin combined test system, which will help diagnose HIV, hepatitis and syphilis. On April 27, Andrey Berezin, Development Director of Biopalitra, spoke about this.
It is noted that the combined test, which simultaneously detects four diseases, is the first in the world. It shows the result of the analysis in less than two hours.
“According to the annual reports of Roszdravnadzor, the epidemiological situation with these infections is quite serious. <...> The detection and early diagnosis of these infections, as well as control and early therapy, would significantly improve the epidemiological situation in Russia and reduce the number of cases, “Berezina quotes TASS.
“Multiscreen” allows you to identify markers of those diseases, the results of which are necessary during hospitalization, in the blood service and other situations. The test system has passed clinical trials at the Novosibirsk Research Institute “Vecto” of the Federal Service for Supervision of Consumer Rights Protection and Human Welfare and received a registration certificate.
“Our competencies and our technological and scientific experience in development allowed us to create a unique system that allows more research in less time and would significantly reduce the burden on the health care system both in monetary terms and the equivalent of human labor,” added Berezin.
Earlier that day, a report from the Ministry of Health on the results of the ministry’s work in 2020 and tasks for 2021 showed that the overall incidence of Russians in the past year decreased by 5.3%. The report says that the number of people who were tested for HIV in the past year decreased by 14.3% compared to 2019. In total, 24.65% of the country’s population underwent a survey in 2020.
Prior to that, on April 5, the head of the department for the organization of outpatient medical care of the city health committee, Larisa Solovyova, said that in 2020 the number of HIV cases in St. Petersburg had decreased by 20%.
On February 15, the five most disadvantaged regions of the Russian Federation were named in terms of the number of HIV-infected. These include the Irkutsk, Kemerovo, Leningrad, Orenburg regions and the Republic of Crimea.
On February 1, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova announced that more than 1.1 million Russians are HIV-positive.
