Muscovites in August will be able to observe the Perseid starfall, which will peak on the night of August 12-13. This was announced on Thursday, July 30, by the press service of the Moscow Planetarium.

“The starry sky of August will be decorated with the traditional August starfall from the constellation Perseus – Perseids, which takes place from July 23 to August 20, and the peak of the flow – on August 12-13,” the city news agency “Moscow” quotes the message. The International Meteor Organization predicts up to 110 meteors per hour in 2020 with clear skies.

The moon close to the new moon will not interfere with observations, noted in the planetarium. The press service of the planetarium specified that favorable conditions for the visibility of the stream will develop from 16 to 23 August.

Also, throughout August there is a high probability of the appearance of noctilucent clouds in the twilight sky of mid-latitudes.

On July 28, the Southern Delta Aquarids meteor shower was reported to have reached its peak. According to Faina Rubleva, the scientific director of the Moscow Planetarium, it is “not very intense” and “it takes time and patience” to observe it.
