The first prototype of the promising PDV-4000 engine for helicopters and aircraft will be assembled by 2025. This was reported in the United Engine Corporation (UEC, part of the state corporation “Rostec”) at the forum “Army-2020” on August 24.
“According to preliminary estimates, the assembly of the first prototype of the promising PDV-4000 engine can be carried out by 2025 and directly depends on the start of development work,” TASS quotes representatives of the corporation.

The press service of the UEC noted that a pre-design analysis has already been completed and the main characteristics of the newest engine have been determined. Now the corporation is coordinating and clarifying the technical characteristics with JSC Russian Helicopters and the aircraft version of the new generation engine with PJSC United Aircraft Corporation.
Earlier, the forum demonstrated the newest Russian unmanned aerial vehicle “Thunder”, which will operate in one connection with the Su-35 fighters and the latest fifth-generation aircraft Su-57. Drones of this type should en masse enter service with the Aerospace Forces, said Nikolai Dolzhenkov, general designer of the Kronstadt enterprise, which developed the drone.
The Army-2020 International Military-Technical Forum opened on the territory of the Patriot Convention and Exhibition Center of the Russian Armed Forces on August 23 and will run until August 29. Some of the demonstration shows are also held at the Alabino training ground, the Kubinka airfield and at the Ashuluk training ground in the Astrakhan region. Representatives of about 100 countries of the world are planning to visit the forum, about 28 thousand exhibits will be presented by more than 1.5 thousand organizations.
