The girl, hospitalized with dystrophy after her mother hid her in a closet for six months in the city of Karpinsk in the Sverdlovsk region, is currently in the orphanage in Yekaterinburg, where she was discharged after the hospital. This was announced on December 30 by the Commissioner for Children’s Rights in Russia Anna Kuznetsova.

“The baby from Karpinsk, who was found in an emaciated state in a closet in October, is now at the orphanage in Yekaterinburg <...> The girl’s health is in order, and this is great news,” the ombudsman wrote on Instagram.

She noted that a volunteer is always with the child, and the regional ombudsman remains in touch with the leadership of the orphanage.

According to Kuznetsova, people are worried about the fate of the child, some even offer to take her to their families. However, the Ombudsman emphasized, while the investigation of the criminal case continues, the girl’s mother is being accused in it, and the question of the child’s future remains open.

“The girl is very sociable, emotionally responsive. The way she gains weight, actively develops – it causes only joy, ”added Kuznetsova.

An exhausted six-month-old girl was found in one of the houses of Karpinsk – it became known that her own mother had hidden her in a closet since birth, and there she was found by a woman’s friends who came to visit.

They took the girl and reported to the police.

According to the prosecutor’s office, the girl was born in April, her 38-year-old mother did not issue a birth certificate and a policy for the child and hid the girl from her acquaintances.

A child in serious condition due to third-degree dystrophy against the background of prolonged starvation was taken to a hospital in Yekaterinburg – then the weight of the baby was only 3.1 kg.

On December 14, the press service of the hospital in Yekaterinburg, where the girl was lying, reported that she was discharged with a weight of about 6 kg. The ombudsman for the rights of the child in the region, Igor Morokov, said that the decision to transfer the child to relatives has not yet been made.

Employees of the Investigative Committee opened a criminal case under articles of attempted murder of a minor and improper performance of duties related to raising a minor.

After examining the woman in a psychiatric hospital, the court decided to let her go home. A preventive measure was taken against a woman in the form of a ban on certain actions.

She expressed a desire to see her daughter and said that she wants to communicate, but she is not allowed.
