It is better to cook shashlik from lean meat, and before cooking it must be marinated. Margarita Makukha, nutritionist of the SberZdorovye service, spoke about this on Monday, May 3.

“Try to choose lean meats or trim fat before cooking. When it drips from meat onto coals, more smoke is produced, and this leads to the formation of carcinogens (substances that can lead to the development of cancerous tumors – ed.). Therefore, turn the meat more often when cooking, ”she said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

According to the expert, you should not often eat semi-finished products, sausages and sausages, even grilled or charcoal ones. In this regard, Makukha advised to choose natural meat, poultry or fish for barbecue.

Also, meat must be marinated, as this helps to reduce the number of carcinogens, and also neutralizes microbes. For the marinade, Makuha recommended using vinegar, spices, herbs and oil.

At the same time, you should not overcook the meat: eating overcooked or charred pieces of meat increases the risk of developing cancer of the gastrointestinal tract, the nutritionist said.

On the same day, therapist, cardiologist, nutritionist and medical blogger Philip Kuzmenko (Dr. Phil) told how much shish kebab can be eaten without harm to health. According to him, you can eat no more than 100 g of red meat per day, and better even no more than 70.

He also noted that if you often eat red meat and any semi-finished products from it, then the risk of developing colorectal cancer increases.
