In St. Petersburg, at the Nevsky ship repair and shipbuilding plant, the tests of the second vessel for the Sakhalin-Kuril line have been completed and the time has come to think about its transportation to the island region. The Ministry of Transport of the region said that they plan to send the ship along the Northern Sea Route.
This option is being considered in advance, the department explained. “Pavel Leonov” should move towards Sakhalin in July. He will spend a month on the way along the NSR, provided that there are no difficult situations along the way.
Admiral Nevelskoy traveled to Sakhalin for exactly two months – along a long journey through the Suez Canal. Along the way, there were dangers from pirates to blocking the only overpass, as happened to the ship Ever Given. The Northern route, of course, implies its own difficulties, but it will still cut this time in half.
