The top ten most popular works that people read on the subway include books by both Russian and foreign authors. This was announced on Thursday, August 20, by RIA Novosti, Deputy Head of the Metro for the Development of Client Services and Work with Passengers, Yulia Temnikova.
The leaders were such books as “Vanity Fair” by William Makepeace Thackeray, “Morphine” by Mikhail Bulgakov and “Thus Spoke Zarathustra” by Friedrich Nietzsche. According to Temnikova, the popularity of these works has increased thanks to the “Books in the Metro” program.
In addition, the top 10 also includes “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer” by Mark Twain, “The Adventures of the Dead” by Mikhail Bulgakov, “Journey to the Center of the Earth” by Jules Verne, “Cunning” by Guy de Maupassant, “Confession of a Hooligan” by Sergei Yesenin, “Dracula ”By Bram Stoker and“ The Count of Monte Cristo ”by Alexandre Dumas.
Temnikova recalled that the “Books in the Metro” project was launched almost two years ago, and during this time passengers have downloaded more than 100 thousand books.
