Two thirds of the moves are in four Russian regions. This was announced on Monday, November 16, by the Director of the Department of Employment of the Ministry of Labor of Russia Mikhail Kirsanov at an expanded meeting of the Federation Council Committee on Federal Structure, Regional Policy, Local Self-Government and Northern Affairs.
“The four main territories where [идет] the migration influx is Moscow, St. Petersburg, the Moscow region and the Leningrad region. They actually account for two-thirds of the crossings, ”Kirsanov said.
He noted that in Russia the movement is carried out in a centripetal direction – from the periphery to the capitals of the regions.
In addition, Kirsanov added that citizens are also moving to Crimea and the Krasnodar Territory.
According to the report of the rating agency ACRA dated June 1, most of the Russian regions will have to cut spending in 2020 to avoid debt.
At the end of May, the Minister of Economic Development of Russia Maxim Reshetnikov called on the government to focus on supporting the regions, since due to the coronavirus pandemic, the budgets of the constituent entities have lost a significant part of their revenues.
In the same month, analysts at Moody’s reported that the crisis in the economy within Russia will increase migration in the next two years.
