Students of Russian universities will be able to go on additional vacations from May 1 to May 10, said Dmitry Afanasyev, deputy head of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science.
According to him, the department is preparing a corresponding order.
“We are now clarifying the wording, but most likely it will be the same as a year ago during non-working days: additional vacations. But this will be determined by the order of the rector and the new schedule of the educational process, “TASS quotes him on Tuesday, April 27.
Earlier, on April 23, Vladimir Putin signed a decree on non-working days between the May holidays. The head of Rospotrebnadzor, Anna Popova, approached him with this proposal. At a meeting with the head of state, she explained that the decision on days off could allow “to make the epidemiological forecast more stable,” with which the president agreed.
The State Duma supported the decision of the Russian leader to make the weekend from May 1 to May 10 inclusive. As noted by Oleg Shein, a member of the committee of the lower house of parliament on labor, social policy and veterans affairs, the order of the head of state “corresponds to public culture.”
This year, May 1 and 9 fall on weekends, and additional holidays were originally announced on May 3 and 10. The days from 4 to 7 May were officially working days. Thus, citizens will rest for ten days on holidays. The first working day will be Tuesday, May 11th.
