Mass vaccination helps to significantly reduce the number of hospitalizations and deaths of people infected with COVID-19, said on Saturday, March 20, the general director of the research company GEC, immunologist Nikolai Kryuchkov in an interview with REN TV.

So, the expert noted that in countries whose residents actively resort to vaccination, this is reflected in the incidence statistics.

“We see that, first of all, vaccination is reflected not in the statistics of morbidity in the short term, but in hospitalizations and deaths, that is, there is a significant decrease in both hospitalizations and deaths, especially deaths. By the way, with regard to the total number of cases, in general, there is also a tendency towards stabilization, ”he stressed.

So, according to him, vaccination played a big role in the epidemiological situation in Israel, where the lockdown was removed due to a decrease in the incidence.

According to Kryuchkov, the fourth vaccine based on virus-like particles will be registered in the fall.

“The fifth vaccine, I hope, will be available by the end of autumn – the beginning of winter. This is the FMBA intranasal vaccine, ”he added.

Earlier on the same day, an infectious disease doctor, deputy director for clinical and analytical work of the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor, Natalya Pshenichnaya, said that the incidence of coronavirus by the end of the spring season could be significantly reduced, provided that the rate of vaccination was accelerated and all protective measures were observed.

On the eve of the WHO representative in the Russian Federation Melita Vujnovich noted that there is a decrease in the spread of coronavirus infection in Russia, while an increase in the incidence rate is again recorded in Europe.

Large-scale vaccination in Russia started in January this year. Citizens are vaccinated free of charge with Sputnik V, which was developed by the specialists of the Gamaleya Center. Sputnik V was registered on August 11 last year.

As of March 20, 4,447,570 cases of coronavirus were detected in Russia in 85 regions. Over the entire period, 94,659 deaths were recorded, 4,060,652 people recovered.
