The Russian government has decided to maintain the parameters of the long-term tariff policy of Russian Railways for 2021 and abandon the additional indexation of freight rates. This was announced on Wednesday, November 4, by the head of the Ministry of Transport Yevgeny Dietrich.
“At a meeting last week, the parameters of the financial plan, the investment program of Russian Railways for 2021 and the planned (period) 2022-2023 (years) were considered by the Russian government. At this meeting, it was decided that in 2021 the parameters of the long-term tariff policy of Russian Railways, which defines all the elements of tariff formation, will not change. In 2021, tariffs will not change, ”TASS quotes Dietrich as saying.
He noted that tariffs for 2022-2023 are being discussed and at the moment this issue remains open.
In October, an analytical review by the National Rating Agency was released, according to which the volume of passenger traffic on the railroad may decrease to the level of ten years ago in 2020 and amount to 900-940 million people.
In early September, the Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia prepared a project on the indexation of tariffs for the transportation of passengers in reserved seat and shared cars in 2021 by 3.7%.
In May, the general director of Russian Railways, Oleg Belozerov, announced that the company had reduced its investment program for 2020, Gazeta.ru writes.
