The Russian government has prepared a bill allowing citizens not to pay for connecting their sections to gas pipelines. This was announced on Tuesday, April 27, by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak.

“Today we have already prepared a draft law on amendments to the law on gas supply, which relate to the redistribution of powers in order to relieve the burden of gas supply from the population, from households,” he said on the air of the Russia-24 TV channel.

He also clarified the details of the earlier announced instructions of Russian President Vladimir Putin concerning gasification. According to him, the order relates to the connection of subscribers in already gasified settlements. He also added that the order must be executed in 2021-2022.

On April 21, during his address to the Federal Assembly, Vladimir Putin said that in Russia, gas will be connected to the site free of charge. The head of state also instructed the government and the regions to develop a plan for gasification of households. The Russian leader supported the initiative of the United Russia party to launch the launch of free gas connections for citizens.

In March it became known that the Presidium of the State Council had developed a “gas maneuver” project to finance gasification in Russian regions. The essence of the maneuver is that part of the cost of gasification of households will be transferred to large gas consumers – enterprises, energy facilities and other legal entities.

In November last year, the Russian government approved the regional gasification program developed by the Ministry of Energy until 2030. Later, the head of Gazprom, Alexei Miller, stressed that the holding would complete the technically possible gasification of the country by 2030.
