The first power unit of the Belarusian NPP was disconnected from the network after the generator protection system was triggered. This was reported by the Ministry of Energy of the Republic on Saturday, January 16.

“At 19:02 the first power unit of the BelNPP was disconnected from the network after the generator protection system was triggered,” the ministry said in its Telegram channel.

The department noted that the system worked during the pilot operation of the power unit during testing of systems and equipment. It is added that after turning off the power unit, the radiation background in the area of ​​the station is normal.

On January 12, the first power unit of BelNPP was brought to the nominal power level, at which static and dynamic tests continued.

The stage of experimental-industrial operation of the first block of the station began on December 22 after receiving the relevant permits from the board of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Belarus. Then the specialists began to gradually raise the reactor power of the first power unit to the nominal one.

The first block of the nuclear power plant was launched on August 7, loading of nuclear fuel began on the same day. The second block, as reported by Alexander Lokshin, First Deputy General Director for Operational Management of the State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom, is planned to be commissioned in mid-2022.
