On May 1, amendments to the Administrative Code entered into force, increasing the fine for violating traffic rules when crossing railway tracks from 1 to 5 thousand rubles.
So, driving through an unregulated crossing, if a train approaches it within sight, will entail administrative liability and a fine or deprivation of a driver’s license for up to six months. If the driver breaks the rule for the second time, then the license can be taken away for a year.
The same punishment will entail driving on a red traffic light, as well as driving with a closed or closing barrier.
At the same time, it is established that these fines will not be subject to a discount if paid within 20 days from the date of the decision, Gazeta.ru adds.
On April 20, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law fivefold increasing the fine for violations of the rules for crossing railways.
In addition, the project regulates the punishment for the forced disembarkation from public transport of a minor under the age of 16, who is unaccompanied by an adult. For such a violation, the driver can receive a fine of 5 thousand rubles. The fine for officials will be from 30 thousand rubles.
Earlier in April, Anatoly Vyborny, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Security and Anti-Corruption, proposed punishing persistent traffic offenders in the event of an accident in the same way as drunk drivers. He said that if a driver has hundreds of traffic violations and he commits an accident in which a person is seriously injured, then the punishment for him should be stricter.
