Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matvienko said that the lifting of anti-coronavirus restrictions in the country is possible by the fall, provided mass vaccination of the population.
“I am still sure that with the development of mass vaccination, by the fall there will be herd immunity, and by the fall the restrictions will be lifted,” she said on the air of the Vremya Pokazhet program on Channel One on April 21.
However, according to Matvienko, it is impossible to relax yet, since the disease will not disappear anywhere. Most likely, according to the speaker of the Federation Council, the coronavirus will become a seasonal disease.
During the announcement of the annual message to the Federal Assembly on April 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that immunity from coronavirus could be formed by this fall, but the solution to the problem largely depends on the citizens themselves.
On April 17, the State Duma said that in large cities such as Moscow, most residents have already met the coronavirus in one way or another, and they have formed the necessary level of protection. According to the screening data, about 60% of the residents there suffered the infection.
Large-scale vaccination of the population against coronavirus infection started in Russia on January 18. The vaccination is given free of charge to everyone.
