The ruble is falling due to seasonality and falling oil prices, economist Vyacheslav Zaichenko said.
According to him, during the holidays, many Russians buy foreign currency to travel abroad, so there is an increased demand for the euro and dollar. The specialist is sure that this will not last long.
Zaychenko also noted in an interview with “360” that prices for Brent and WTI crude oil are technically declining, this is a short-term correction. In his opinion, as soon as the cost of “black gold” returns to growth, the ruble will also strengthen.
“After August 20, everything will start to recover. Contracts will go, there will be a heating season ahead. And naturally, the ruble will start strengthening, ”he concluded.
In July, the ruble fell 4.2% against the dollar and 8.7% against the euro. This is the worst result of the national currency since March, when the ruble fell by 14.7% against the dollar and against the euro.
