In the Leningrad region, a court has appointed United Russia deputy Yevgeny Budaev a fine of 10 thousand rubles for an attempt to steal the rails. For some reason, the deputy decided that no one would notice the absence of a part of the railroad track in the forest belt at the stretch of the Lebyazhye and Krasnoflotsk stations. He took his friend Shamil with him.
The incident took place on December 7th. A local resident reported to the Lomonosov police about the men sawing the rails at the Krasnaya Gorka fort. As the police said in the report, the men with the help of a Gazelle dragged a 25-meter-long rail into the forest, sawing off eight pieces of 1.5 meters each, loaded the courses into the back, after which they continued to saw the rail. By the time the police arrived, Budaev and Shamil had managed to cut off ten more pieces. The 40-year-old deputy of the Lebyazhensky settlement confessed to the deed. He reported that the iron was needed to build a road to his sawmill.
“He actively contributed to the establishment of all the circumstances of the incident, and also made an official apology to Russian Railways and proactively made donations to the account of one of the orphanages,” – reported the press service of the UK on transport in the Northwestern Federal District.
According to media reports, the deputy transferred the money to the Peterhof boarding school for disabled children. It is not known exactly what amount he donated to the boarding school, but the cost of the property stolen from Russian Railways was about 15 thousand rubles.
For attempted theft by a group of persons by prior conspiracy, the deputy was fined 10 thousand rubles.
