Interest in business courses in the regions increased by an average of a quarter, while in Moscow it remained at the same level at best. This was reported by representatives of educational services interviewed by Izvestia.

According to EdTech-company Like Center, in the second quarter the demand for business training courses from students from the regions increased by 16% compared to the same period last year. In just three months, the company received about 37 thousand applications for training. In Moscow, the dynamics of demand turned out to be negative (-8%) and decreased to 13.4 thousand applications.

The demand for learning English in the regions in March-May increased by 25% compared to the same period in 2019, Alexander Laryanovsky, managing partner of Skyeng, told Izvestia. The most popular course was General English, followed by Business English. At the same time, demand in the capital remained at the same level – the pandemic did not affect it.

Coursera noticed that the number of business course registrations increased overall. Many students have used the isolation time to acquire new skills that will help them find a job, improve their qualifications or get promoted, said Anthony Tattersall, EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) Leader.

The closure of borders, the action of the self-isolation regime and other measures introduced to combat the coronavirus pandemic have led to an increase in entrepreneurial activity in the regions, explained Vasily Alekseev, CEO of Like Center. In addition, due to the development of the remote work format, many freelancers have moved from the capital to the regions. With Moscow salaries, internal emigrants created additional demand – for food, entertainment, services, etc., he added.
