“A criminal case has been initiated against Vorobyevsky and Basharimov on vandalism committed by a group of persons (part 2 of article 214 of the Criminal Code). The investigation will petition for the choice of a preventive measure in the form of detention. The Tverskoy Court will consider the relevant issue on Monday, “Zakhvatov said in a conversation with TASS.
The lawyer stressed that he was surprised by the choice of such a tough preventive measure. Moreover, according to him, according to the second part of the article on vandalism, the maximum term is three years and with such a punishment they are not sent to the isolation ward.
“There are also exceptions to the rules, there are only four of these: when the person is not established, there is no permanent place of residence, the person tried to hide from the investigation or the court, and also when the person violated the previously appointed preventive measure. We do not have any of these exceptions, “Zakhvatov added.
In June, unidentified persons poured paint on griffins on Bankovsky Bridge in St. Petersburg. Later, utilities in St. Petersburg washed the sculptures.
