The Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation in the Kaluga Region opened a criminal case against a 21-year-old convict who is in a correctional colony. The man is suspected of inciting hatred and enmity, the press service of the investigative department reported on Monday, March 29.
“A man is suspected of committing a crime under part 2 of article 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation” Incitement to hatred and enmity, committed with the use of violence and the threat of its use, “the press service said.
According to the investigation, the convict, while serving 8 years in a colony for robbery and other crimes, repeatedly expressed hostility towards a group of persons united by nationality, called for violence against them. They also expressed threats of physical harm to one of the convicts of another nationality. In March 2021, a man became the instigator of a conflict with a person of this ethnic group. The prison staff had to separate the convicts.
At present, witnesses to the incident have been questioned, and the necessary examinations are being carried out. The same convict last year was already brought to administrative responsibility by the court for displaying his tattoo with Nazi symbols.
