The body of Andrei Chekin, who had previously fought as a volunteer in the Donbass, was found in his apartment in Murino near St. Petersburg. This was reported by the REN TV channel on Sunday, December 13.
The police found him when they arrived to call local residents who complained about the noise.
“They found a terrible mess inside the apartment. Chekin’s body with a cut on his head was on the floor, and his legs were on the sofa, ”the TV channel notes.
The cause of death is still unknown.
According to REN TV, for the fact that Chekin fought in the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) as a volunteer, the Ukrainian site “Peacemaker” (blocked in the Russian Federation) included him in its database. The information was posted in the “find and punish” section.
At the end of January, the national police of Ukraine reported that a drunken man who fought in the Donbass shot his friend in the Kiev region.
The site “Peacemaker” is known for scandalous publications in which it publishes the data of journalists, militias from the self-proclaimed DPR and the Luhansk People’s Republic (LPR) and other citizens, calling them traitors to their homeland.
In the spring of 2016, the portal published lists of journalists who received accreditation from the DPR and LPR, indicating their contact details, after which some of them received threats. The website database contains information about a number of Russian cultural figures. Peacemaker is not an official resource.
On November 21, 2020, Ukraine demanded to check the activities of this site.
