The United States welcomes the expulsion of Russian diplomats from Slovakia. This was announced on Monday, August 11, by State Department spokeswoman Morgan Ortagus.
According to the diplomat, the Slovak Foreign Ministry sent a clear signal that “it will not tolerate Russia’s politically motivated criminal actions on Slovak territory or in Europe.”
“The US welcomes Slovakia’s recent actions to defend against threats posed by foreign malevolent actors to its sovereignty,” Ortagus wrote in Twitter.
An anonymous official told Bloomberg about the decision of the Slovak authorities to expel three Russian diplomats on August 10. According to him, they are suspected of espionage. Later, the information about the expulsion was confirmed by the country’s foreign ministry.
In turn, the Russian Foreign Ministry promised to mirror the response to the expulsion of Russian diplomats.
