The fact of attempted fraud in the field of insurance was reported in the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Smolensk region. A representative of an insurance company contacted the police department No. 1 for the city of Smolensk. He had doubts about the authenticity of the documents from the client on the fact of a road traffic accident in which she became a participant.
As a result of the check, the district police officers established that the 32-year-old Smolyanka submitted to the insurance company a statement on the occurrence of an insured event, containing deliberately false information about the nature of the technical damage to her car in an accident. Smolyanka tried to illegally obtain 319 thousand rubles for insurance.
The investigators of the police department No. 1 of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Smolensk opened a criminal case on the grounds of a crime (part 3 of article 30, part 2 of article 159.5 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) – an attempt on fraud in the field of insurance. The maximum punishment for this is arrest for up to four months.
