Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said that the main transformations in the RF Armed Forces have been completed.
According to Shoigu, self-sufficient groupings of troops were created in strategic directions, the Special Operations Forces and the military police, as well as units of unmanned aviation, were formed.
In addition, a new type of the Armed Forces has appeared – the Aerospace Forces.
“The armed forces have been brought to a three-service structure, and their staffing has been brought up to the parameters established by the decree of the President of the Russian Federation,” the minister said in an interview with Rossiyskaya Gazeta, published on Thursday, April 15.
Shoigu stressed that today the Armed Forces meet all the requirements for the most advanced armies in the world.
“The Russian army is modern, mobile, compact and efficient,” he said.
Earlier, on April 6, Shoigu said that control checks of combat readiness had begun in the Russian Armed Forces.
The exercises will take place on the territory of all military districts and the Northern Fleet, in the Far North, the Kuril Islands, in Kamchatka, all types and branches of the Russian Armed Forces will be involved in them. During April, 4048 exercises will be conducted as part of the verification.
